The main tourist destination in
Myanmar is Bagan, capital of the first Myanmar
Empire; one of the richest archaeological sites in
South-east Asia. Situated on the eastern bank of the
Ayeyawaddy River. The Magic of Bagan has inspired visitors to

architecture and ruins. Temples, pagodas, monuments,

Shwezigon, Ananda, Dhammayangyi and Thabbyinnyu

Mt Popa is the dwelling of
Myanmar Nats which is also a popular place to visit.
It is an extinct volcano. Tuyin Taung and Tantkyi
Taung lies on each side of the Ayeyarwaddy River.
Salay has the most prominent Salay U Ponnya
Monastery with wood carvings. Magwe is another
interesting city near Bagan. |
