Insontaung Wildlife Sanctuary
Location
- This sanctuary is located in Central Myanmar
Dry Zone.
Forest/Vegetation Type
- Vegetation is characterized by scrub land
and dry deciduous forest.
Wildlife
- Over 70 bird species have been recorded in
it.
- The highlights to be seen include three
Myanma endemic species: White-throated Babbler,
rare Hooded Treepie and Burmese Bushlark. Other
interesting birds that could be seen in this
sanctuary are Rufous Woodpecker, Pied Cuckoo,
Rufous Treepie, Spotted Owlet, Streak-eared
Bulbul, Vinous-breasted Starling and
Plain-backed Sparrow.
Opportunities for Study and Recreation
- In addition butterfly watching and tortoise
studying, especially vary rare and (Myanmar
endemic) Myanmar Star Tortoise and Yellow
Tortoise can be made.
- Recommend to visit all the year round.
