Maha Alula Thakya Yanthi Sedatkyee Image
The Sedatkyee Buddha Image lies in Hinthada,
Ayeyarwady Division. It was built by First Dvara
Missionary Sayadaw Ashin Cindima Lankara Saddhama
Ramsi's disciples when he passed away in 1268. It
was built to be 45 feet high to mark the 45 years
that Buddha had spent showing the Dhamma to all
disciples. The meaning of Sedatkyee is having a
height of 10 stories building.
It was on a throne six cubits high. Foundation
stone was laid on 2nd waning moon day of Tabodwe,
1271, and it was completed on the 5th waning moon
day of Tagu 1275. It was also called Sedatkyee (Ten
layers) as it contained ten layers of enshrinement —
four in the first tier, three in the second tier and
three in the third tier. |
