Aung Bodhi Pagoda
Aung Bodhi Pagoda lies in Kanaung, one of 32
towns of Pathein, in Ayeyarwady Division. It was
built in 1214 and 1215 in dedication to Prince
Kanaung by Owner bf a Basket of Silver and Four
Elephants Mayor U Byaung and wife and family.
It was renovated by the townspeople led by Waso
Kyaung Sayadaw Wundawbartha of Kanaung in 1360.
Found enshrined there were one fourth cubit gold
statue, silver statue, one half cubit bodhi gold
statue, a silver bodhi statue, 14 gold star flowers,
14 silver flowers. 15 relics, six ancient statues,
earth from the place of Enlightenment, an old glass
jar, gold earrings and a silver parabaik. |
