Htupayon Pagoda
Htupayon Pagoda was built in Podan Ward of
Sagaing in 806 by King Narapate of Innwa who
ascended the throne in 804.
It is 135 cubits high, and some said that was why
it took three years to consecrate it. It was ravaged
by earthquakes and it needed repairs by Minye Kyaw
Swa, King Thalun and King Bagan.
It had to be completely rebuilt by missionary
Sayadaw Ashin Ananda Thiri in 1330. It was completed
in three years. It is a prominent pagoda and one can
study ancient stone scriptures at the pagoda.
