Lawka Marazain Kuthadawgyi
It was first built by King Mindon in 1221. It
took three years to complete entirely with its
Mahayam Wall. It lies in Dawnabwa Ward of Aungmye
Thazan Township, Mandalay Division. King Mindon put
the scriptures in stone inscriptions for the Sasana
to last more than 5000 years. The Tripitakas in Pali
text were placed in 729 inscriptions and placed in
Dhamma Zedis. It is known now as the biggest book in
stone in the world. It is seen from the top of
Manda¬lay Hill, gold shimmering amid the whites of
the Dhamma Zedi pagodas all round. |
