Maha Lawka Yanthi Aindawya Pagoda
Maha Lawka Yanthi Aindawya Pagoda was built in
1209 by King Bagan titled Loka Pawara Maha
Yazadiyaza, the fourth king of Amarapura. Now the
pagoda happens to lie in East Ward, thiri Hema Ward,
Chan Aye Tha Zan Township, Mandalay. He had actually
laid the inittial bricks, of gold, silver and bronze
and the building was supervised by Thado Mingyi Kyaw
Thu, the secretary, mayor of goldsmith town arid
mayor of blacksmith for completion in 1210, on the
sixth waning of Tazaungmon, Thursday. Enshrined
together with over 1200 statues of Buddha in gold
and silver were statues of his ancestors. The height
of the pagoda is 59 cubits. |
