Nay Pyi Taw
Nay Pyi Taw is the national capital of Myanmar,
located in Kyatpyae Village of Pyinmana Township of
Mandalay Division. Nay Pyi Taw is approximately 320
kilometres north of Yangon. Nay Pyi Taw means "The
Royal City" in Myanmar Language. It was moved
starting from November 2005.
Transportation
It takes nine hours by train to get from Yangon
to Nay Pyi Taw. The existing airfield at Ela was
upgraded to serve as the new airport in Nay Pyi Taw.
The Nay Pyi Taw airport lies 10 miles southeast of
Kyatpyae. All the local airlines in Myanmar which
are Myanma Airways, Yangon Airways, Air Mandalay and
Air Bagan, have included Nay Pyi Taw as a
destination and provide services between it and
other cities and towns across Myanmar.
