Pyilone Katkyaw Sutaungpyi Pagoda
Pyilone Katkyaw Sutaungpyi Pagoda has a great
meaning for the whole country. The pagoda meaning
may the whole country overcome scourges and fulfill
wishes of all lies in Hinthada, Ayeyarwady Division.
It was built by Town Elder U Ba Ye during the
time of King Badon in Sakarit 1164. It was loosely
called U Ba Ye Pagoda and inscribed on the bronze
parabaik and it was placed in the plantain bud of
the pagoda. In Sakarit 1299, Hermit U Khanti visited
the town and gave the present name with the belief
that it would save the nation from all the dangers.
Hence the name. |
