Pyilone Katkyaw Sutaungpyi Pagoda

Pyilone Katkyaw Sutaungpyi Pagoda has a great meaning for the whole country. The pagoda meaning may the whole country overcome scourges and fulfill wishes of all lies in Hinthada, Ayeyarwady Division.

It was built by Town Elder U Ba Ye during the time of King Badon in Sakarit 1164. It was loosely called U Ba Ye Pagoda and inscribed on the bronze parabaik and it was placed in the plantain bud of the pagoda. In Sakarit 1299, Hermit U Khanti visited the town and gave the present name with the belief that it would save the nation from all the dangers. Hence the name.
