Under the close supervision of the most venerable Sayadaw. Bhaddanta Jagara. Aggamahapandita. Abbot of Dhammathukha Monastery. the Bronze image of the Buddha (Kyay Thoon Payagyi) at Kyatawya Ward. Bahan Township. Yangon was built in 1911 AD. (Myanmar Era 1273). with the main cash donation of sisters Daw Aye Hla. Daw Aye Mya and their brother U Tha Htoo and also with the donation of public other well-wishers. The total construction of the Kyaythoon Payagyi finished in 1912.
Originally. the Kyaythoon Payagyi was sheltered in a temporary building made bamboo and thatch roofing.
On 5th waxing day of Thadingyut. M.E.1290 (October. 1928). under the supervision of Venerable Sayadaw from Dhammathukha Monastery. well-wishers constructed the original iron building with their cash donation.
